Cone Fuse End Seal
Our End Sealing service makes wires to order using a wire structure of your choosing in a length of your choosing as well.
Description
Cone Fuse Wire Sealing Service: Multistrand wire rope can be cut cleanly with a set of parrot beak cutters. However, even cleanly cut wire rope can fray if the application requires it to be slid down a long tube or repeatedly inserted into a hole. If the application requires a minimum diameter, then an end stop or collar or seizing is impractical. In this case, sealing the end of the wire is the answer. Cone Fusing – also known as annealing – uses heat and torque to weld the ends shut. It is the premier sealing service.
Usage: End sealing is achieved in two ways – either Twisting or Fusing. Please Note that Fusing does NOT work with coated wires. Generally, custom length bare wires can be built using the method of your choosing – either twisting or welding. In most cases, a twist seal is more than adequate. In both cases, there is a material loss at the end point of ~200mm. Technical recommendations are available in both cases! This custom service has a relatively fast turnaround.
All grades and structures can be Twist-Sealed (including Fibre Core) however, only steel core wires can be Weld-Sealed. Please note that a Weld-Sealed end is also described as fused or tapered and involves welding temperatures.
