4.0mm Hourglass Aluminium Gym Cable Ferrules are ‘hand swages’ – also known as crimps or compression sleeves. They are made from aluminium and they are designed to work with High and Medium Flexibility Wire Rope. Swages used to link two strands of wire together are known as “Duplex”. Two styles available – Hourglass and Oval. Oval are generally viewed as ‘machine’ swages and require a hydraulic press. Hourglass Swages are ‘hand’ swaged and require only a mechanical tool.
Usage: 4.0mm Hourglass Aluminium Gym Cable Ferrules have the end of a length of wire is threaded through one side of a swage, the wire is then looped around a thimble and the end of the wire is threaded back through the swage. Gym Cable Ferrules are normally used with Thimbles (the tear drop shaped thin strips of metal that go inside of the Terminating Loop) so that when it is secured, the force of the bearing point is evenly distributed along the length of the thimble and minimizes wear and stretch on the wire cable.
