Our 0.8mm Oval Nickel Coated Copper Swage Sleeves (Ferrules) are ‘machine swages’ – also known as crimps or ferrules. They are made from nickel coated copper and they are designed to work with High and Medium Flexibility Stainless Steel Wire Rope. Each size of Swage is designed to work with a specific size of wire. We have two styles available – Hourglass and Oval. Oval are generally viewed as ‘machine’ swages and normally require a hydraulic press. Duplex or Hourglass Swages are viewed as ‘hand’ swages and normally require only a mechanical tool. These standard length Ferrules are compliant with the EN 13411-3 and DIN 3093 Standards.

Usage: The end of a length of wire is threaded through one side of a swage, the wire is then looped around a thimble and the end of the wire is threaded back through the swage. Generally, we recommend swaging/crimping these Sleeves with a Hydraulic Press to retain a predictable finish and reliable MBS. Sleeves below 3mm may be crimped manually, but larger OVAL sleeves MUST be crimped hydraulically. Proper sizing and swaging technique using Swage Sleeve splicing confers 90% of the wire rope breaking strength given the resultant splice conforms with published and tested tables..
