Usage: The Wire Rope Thimble 5.0mm Zinc Plated Steel terminates wire with a swage or a wire rope grip fastener. Firstly, insert the end of a length of wire through one side of the fastener. Secondly, loop the wire around the thimble. Finally, thread the end of the wire back through the fastener. Best practice for maximum strength requires wire extended past the swage. As a result, the length of the extended wire must be 3 times the diameter of the wire. The swage and thimble secure with a manual or hydraulic crimping tool. The grip fastens mechanically. A larger thimble can be used with a small diameter wire to afford protection or form a larger loop. And this works if there is adequate clearance.
