Wire Rope Thimble 8.0mm Galvanised Steel reinforce and structure the end loop of galvanised steel wire (or rope) run. The structured loop forms with a swaged ferrule or wire rope grip. This distributes the force of the bearing point is evenly along the length of the thimble. Distributed force minimizes wear, stretch, on the wire cable. Additionally, a thimble works with hydraulically and mechanically pressed ferrules. Our wire rope thimbles are Australian Standard AS1138 Galvanised steel.

Usage: The Wire Rope Thimble 8.0mm Galvanised Steel terminates wire with a swage or a wire rope grip fastener. Firstly, insert the end of a length of wire through one side of the fastener. Secondly, loop the wire around the thimble. Finally, thread the end of the wire back through the fastener. Best practice for maximum strength requires wire extended past the swage. As a result, the length of the extended wire must be 3 times the diameter of the wire. The swage and thimble secure with a manual or hydraulic crimping tool. The grip fastens mechanically. A larger thimble can be used with a small diameter wire to afford protection or form a larger loop. And this works if there is adequate clearance.
