While wire rope grips are like ‘u bolts’ for wire. Also known as Bulldog Grips or Clips They work fine if you use them properly – in the correct Application with the correct Placement
Applications:
- All Wire Rope Grips are not designed to be used in an overhead lifting situation (swage sleeves should be used instead) – remember they are generally NOT rated,
- Drop forged wire rope clips – or specifically rated AS2076 Grips are heavy-duty wire rope clips that can be used for sustaining overhead loads. Examples include guy lines, support lines, scaffolding, etc.
Placement:
Wire Rope Grips are designed to
- have the U-Bolt Section (base) applied against the main (dead) end of the wire rope. And they need to
- be staggered (1.5X the diameter of the wire in question is the recommended spacing),
- be at least a length equal to 1.5X the diameter of the wire in question protruding and secured past the last (third) Wire Rope Grip
