Butt Splice Terminals sound rude but they are forged AISI 316 marine grade stainless steel and designed to attach to stainless steel wire rope to anything else of an identical diameter.
Description
A Butt Splice Terminal joins wire through hydraulical swaging. This fitting butt splices two identical diameters together. The fitting normally joins the ends of wires together. In addition, this terminal also joins together any rod like fixture of an identical diameter. Finally, these fittings are only recommended in limited use cases such as low-load length extension requirements. A Butt Splice Joiner is a hydraulically swaged fitting that is pressed (pressure welded) onto the wire rope (so you’ll need the Hydraulic Swaging Tool – not the Mechanical Swaging Tool). Our Joiner Terminals are AISI 316 grade stainless steel.
Usage: The Butt Splice Joiner G316 Stainless Steel does not terminate wire. The fitting joins it to something else that is swaged into the fitting. Firstly, swaging is the process of uniformly crushing a fitting. Secondly, swaging reduces a starting diameter to a finished diameter. Therefore, the chosen swaging tool must achieve a cold pressure weld. Logically, the requisite pressure and tool size varies with the size of the wire and the fitting.
