Safety Wire SHSH-6mm 500mm 3.2mm/4.0mm Black PVC Coated 7×19 G316 Stainless Steel

Materials per wire:

  1. 2 x 6.0mm Spring Hooks with Eyes
  2. 2 x 3.0mm Hourglass Nickel Plated Copper Ferrules
  3. Blank of 3.2mm / 4.0mm Black PVC Coated 7×19 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope

Construction:

  1. The distance from the ‘end’ edge of the sleeve to the tip of the Spring Hook on each end is 95mm
  2. Each Spring Hook needs 107mm from the bearing point of the soft eye and wire needs to extend past the front of the swage sleeve by 43mm to complete the “soft eye”
  3. Cut blanks to 516mm = 500 – (2*97mm) + (2*105mm)
  4. Strip 105mm from each end of the blank.
  5. Use 3.0mm Hourglass Nickel Plated Copper Ferrules and Hold the Soft Eye formed aligning the end of the stripped wire with the start of the coating and allow < = 2.0mm of wire to protrude on the distal side of the swage sleeve
  6. Using the 3.0mm Dies of the Manual Bench Swager – press the sleeve 3 times – first by the mandrel catching the back edge of the sleeve, then at the front catching the front end of the sleeve and finish the middle for uniformity.
  7. Repeat for the other side Align the faces of the Spring Hooks.
