Tethers

Tethers Grouped by Shape and Function

Tethers

are a sub-set of Safety Lines and  Miniature Wire versions of a Wire Rope Sling. And they are both cute, functional and “Rugged As”. Uses include safety or loss-prevention anchoring for:

  • camera or lighting rigs,
  • caps, lids, or “…the other matching thing”,
  • repair kits,
  • first aid packs, or
  • anything else you really “… don’t want to grow legs”

Clearly, the permutations of  different ends, wire dimensions, coatings, and lengths is enormous. And if you want, we can build them…  However, off-the-shelf, our Tethers are offered in six basic/standard configurations – with 1.5mm 7×7 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope – some with  coated and others with uncoated wire.  All are compatible with fittings of the proper thread size. The Tethers are offered in standard lengths that reflect their common applications (use-case). But, custom work can also be done using anything in our workshop – please contact us if you have questions.

Deployment and Use

The whole idea is to link two things in a flexible manner so they only part company when you want them to leave. This can include red hot steel, people, ladders, locking pins, Go-Pro Cameras, Gas Caps and a myriad mix of pretty much anything.

Tether “configurations” refer to how the end of tether is styled. The end styling options are a Soft Eye (SE), Hard Eye (HE), Pressed Eye (PE), Spring Hook (SH), Saddle Loop (SL), Eye Bolt (EB), and Eye Screw (ES) which result in a HUGE number of  possible configurations and we offer 8 configurations in a standard format:  HEHE, SESE, SEPE, PEPE, SLSL, SESL, SEEB, SEES.
  1. HEHE tethers feature a reinforced loop (HE = Hard Eye) at each end,
  2. SESE tethers have a big loop (SE = Soft Eye) at each end,
  3. SEPE tethers come with one big loop (SE = Soft Eye) and one Pressed Eye (PE = Pressed Eye),
  4. PEPE tethers consist of a Pressed Eye (PE = Pressed Eye) at both ends,
  5. SLSL tethers use a Saddle attached by a loop  (SL = Saddle Loop) at both ends (for rivet or screw attachments on both ends),
  6. SESL tethers come with one big loop (SE = Soft Eye) and a Saddle attached by a loop  (SL = Saddle Loop) (for rivet or screw attachments on one end)
  7. SEEB tethers come with one big loop (SE = Soft Eye) and one M6x1.0 Eye Bolt (EB = Eye Bolt – for metal attachment),
  8. SEES tethers come with one big loop (SE = Soft Eye) and one 6mm Screw Eye (ES = Eye Screw – for timber attachment),
