Flanged Aluminium Swage Sleeve Caps can be used to terminate a single wire rope – like an end cap, but these have a Flange so they don’t pull through a larger hole. These are exactly analogous to Rod End fittings are quite unique. Basically, they are bits of Aluminum that are designed to pass over the end of a wire rope and be hand swaged (manually or hydraulically) on the wire to act as a termination. In practice, this is putting a manually swaged terminal on the wire.
Usage: Flanged Aluminium Swage Sleeve Caps are used to terminate a barrier cable. Please note that the retention strength of these fittings is ~50% of the MBS of the wire to which they are fastened. Aluminium is best used on mild steel, galvanized steel, high tensile steel – NOT stainless steel – wire or wire rope as aluminum and stainless steel cause a dissimilar alloys interaction (galvanic reaction).
