Materials per wire:

  1. 1 x 5.0mm Aluminium Round Swage Sleeve
  2. 1 x 6.5mm Oval Aluminium Swage Sleeve – with internal burrs removed
  3. 1 x 6.0mm Stainless Steel Fender Washer
  4. 1 x 50mm Length of Blue 8mm 4:1 Double Wall Adhesive Heat Shrink Tubing.
  5. Blank of Blue PVC Coated 5.0mm/7.0mm 6×19 G1570 Galvanised Steel Wire Rope

Construction:

  1. Cut Wire Blanks of Blue PVC Coated 5.0mm/7.0mm 6×19 G1570 Galvanised Steel Wire Rope where T2T Target length is 270mm
  2. The Soft Eye uses up 120mm to bottom of uncrimped Oval Sleeve (relaxed in ‘natural shape’) to the outside edge when creating Soft Eye and wire needs to extend past from the front of the swage sleeve by 90mm to complete the “soft eye”
  3. Cut blanks to 390mm = 270mm+ (120.0mm)
  4. Slip the Heat Shrink over one end of the blank
  5. Use the 6.5mm Oval Aluminium Swage Sleeve to hold the Soft Eye formed to length, allowing 0.0mm of wire to protrude on the backside of the swage sleeve
  6. Using the Crimping jaws are from 240 – round shape for 6.5mm Round Oval Sleeve fittings in the Hydraulic Bench Press and press the oval swage sleeve to ~2500PSI
  7. Slide the Heat Shrink over the (now) hexagonal swage sleeve forming the loop and change ends
  8. Apply heat using a Heat Gun to the Heat Shrink Tubing covering the swage for the Soft Eye to complete the wire.
  9. Ring 15.0mm of the coating from the wire on the straight end using the electrical crimpers – set to that distance.
  10. If building to completion
    1. Place the 6.0mm Fender washer on the wire up against the coating.
    2. Place the 5.0mm Round Aluminium Swage Sleeve as an end stop on the other end, allowing 0.0mm of wire to protrude on the backside of the swage sleeve (if the fit is not ‘snug’, you may need to ‘crimp’ the round swage to hold it in place for the next step.
    3. Using the Crimping jaws are from 240 – hex shape for 5.0mm stainless steel fittings in the Hydraulic Bench Press and press the round swage sleeve to ~2500PSI
  11. otherwise leave on the ringed coating and pack up the bits
