Safety Wire SHSH-5 500mm 2.5mm/3.5mm Black PVC Coated 7×7 G316 Stainless Steel

Materials per wire:

  1. 2 x 5.0mm Spring Hooks with Eyes
  2. 2 x 2.5mm Hourglass Ferrules of Aluminium
  3. Blank of 2.5mm / 3.5mm Black PVC Coated 7×7 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope

Construction:

  1. The distance from the ‘end’ edge of the sleeve to the tip of the Spring Hook on each end is 85mm
  2. Each Spring Hook needs 90mm from the edge of the sleeve to complete the “soft eye”
  3. Cut blanks to 510mm = 500 – (2*85mm) + (2*90mm)
  4. Strip 90mm from each end of the blank.
  5. Use 2.5mm Hourglass Aluminium Ferrules and Hold the Soft Eye formed aligning the end of the stripped wire with the start of the coating and allow < = 2.0mm of wire to protrude on the distal side of the swage sleeve
  6. Using the 2.5mm Dies of the Manual Bench Swager – press the sleeve 3 times – first by the mandrel catching the back edge of the sleeve, then at the front catching the front end of the sleeve and finish the middle for uniformity.
  7. Repeat for the other side Align the faces of the Spring Hooks.
