Description
Batten 14G x 50mm Counter Sunk Hex Drive Bugle Head Screws are exceptional Marine Grade fasteners with a standard Hex Head and are Self Tapping – in this case self drilling. However we recommend a pilot hole. Various gauges / diameters and lengths are available. Marine Grade Stainless Steel Screws are more brittle than mild steel screws. Install screws with the drive clutch set as low as possible. Maximum RPM recommended is 2500 (medium). This lessens the likelihood that the head may be popped off by impact with the bracket if the contact is not uniform
Usage: Batten Screw 14g 10mm x 50mm can combine with Nylon (isolation) and stainless Washers for security. The screw is often used for decking boards but can also fasten into the posts or uprights directly and anchor to runs of balustrading wire into a post. U Clips, Saddles, Pad Eyes (both oval and square and diamond shaped), and other locations points suiting a flat and either thin or hollow surface are recommended. Choose a shorter Screw for attachment into thin material – either wood or metal. There is more than enough bite and you avoid the possibility of torqueing off a longer screw into hard timber. Choosing a longer length is only appropriate in special circumstances.
