Grounding Wire 7.1M Uncoated 8.0mm 7X19 G2070 Galvanised Steel

Materials per wire:

  1. 1 x 8.0mm Oval Aluminium Swage Sleeve
  2. 1 x 8.0mm AS Galvanised Steel Thimble
  3. 1 x 8.0mm (50mm2) Winch Lug Aluminium
  4. Blank of 8.0mm 7×19 G2070 Galvanised Steel Wire Rope

Construction

  1. The length of the Hard Eye is 94mm, which uses up 234mm of wire so an additional 140mm is needed to complete the “hard eye”
  2. The Length of the Winch Lug is 48mm and it extends the wire by 28mm so remove 20mm of cable
  3. Cut blanks to 7220mm = 7100 – (20.0 mm) + (140.0 mm)
  4. For Hard Eye:
    1. Use the 8.0mm Oval Aluminium Swage Sleeve to hold the Hard Eye formed by the 8.0mm AS Galvanised Steel Thimble, allowing ~10mm of wire to protrude on the backside of the swage sleeve
    2. Using greased Swaging Dies are from the HP240-C – round shape for 8.0mm Oval Sleeves in the Hydraulic Bench Press and press the oval swage sleeve to ~4000PSI
    3. Swage the fitting progressively until it achieves a diameter of 16.0mm (+/- 0.4mm)
  5. For Lug
    1. Fit the 8.0mm Lug to the wire and using greased Swaging Dies are from the HP240-C – Hex shape for 6.0mm SS Terminals, press the aluminium Lug sleeve to ~4000PSI
    2. Swage the fitting progressively until it achieves a diameter of 11.0mm (+/- 0.4mm)
