Safety Wire SHSH Coated Clear 1.2mm/1.5mm 500mm 7X7 G316 Stainless Steel

Materials per wire:

  1. 2 x 4.0mm Spring Hooks with Eyes
  2. 2 x 1.5mm Hourglass Ferrules of Nickel Plated Copper
  3. Blank of 1.2mm/1.5mm 7×7 Nylon Coated G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope

Construction:

  1. Cut Wire Blanks of 1.2mm/1.5mm 7×7 Nylon Coated G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope where CoE to CoE Target length is 500mm
  2. Each “Swaged on” Spring Hook uses up 53mm from the front of the swage sleeve when created using the SH as a ‘mandrel’ and wire needs to extend past the front of the swage sleeve by 43mm to complete the “soft eye”
  3. Cut blanks to 480mm = 500 – (2*53.0mm) + (2*43)
  4. Use 1.5mm Nickel Plated Copper Swages and Hold the Soft Eye formed by the SH tightly allowing ~1.0mm of wire to protrude on the backside of the swage sleeve
  5. Using the 1.5mm Dies of the Manual Bench Swager – press the sleeve 3 times – first by the mandrel catching the back edge of the sleeve, then at the front catching the front end of the sleeve and finish the middle for uniformity.
  6. repeat for the other side
  7. Align the faces of the Spring Hooks.
