Product Description
Timber Inserts (Timnuts or Timber Nuts)
Our Timber Inserts are Large Flange with with deep lag threads – so the stay put!
They are made from stainless steel and are compatible with fittings of the proper thread size. They are installed using a correctly sized Allen Key (or Hex Bit) to wind/drill in the insert. These fittings are industry fabrication quality and IMHO – some of the best around.
Pull out strength of 670kgs is based on the maximum lateral load achieved using MGP 10 Stuctural Pine. These numbers are intended as a guide only and a safety factor should be applied to these ratings depending on the application and danger to people/property. Higher lateral loads can be achieved if the inserts are used in hardwoods; for example Kwila will hold ~85% more tension than pine.
Application:
Timber Inserts (Timber Nuts) are used to place a permanent fastener (nut) inside a post (like a frame stud/joist or a timber post). This fastening method allows fittings to be screwed into and tightened without needing a wrench behind the panel to hold a nut. Use of this type of fastening point is common when building furniture as it allows a precise connection.
