Wire Sling 1.5M Uncoated 8.0mm 7X19 G316 Stainless Steel

Materials per wire:

  1. 2 x 9.0mm Oval Copper Swage Sleeve
  2. 2 x 8.0mm Stainless Steel Thimbles
  3. Blank of 8.0mm 7×19 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope

Construction

  1. Cut Wire Blanks of 8.0mm 7×19 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope where T2T Target length is 1500mm
  2. The length of each Hard Eye 94mm, which uses up 220mm of wire so an additional 126mm is needed to complete the “hard eye”
  3. Cut blanks to 1752mm = 1500 – (2*94mm) + (2*220mm)
  4. For each end:
    1. Use the 9.0mm Oval Copper Swage Sleeve to hold the HardEye formed by the 8.0mm Stainless Steel Thimble, allowing ~10mm of wire to protrude on the backside of the swage sleeve
    2. Using greased Swaging Dies are from the HP240-C – round shape for 9.0mm Oval Sleeves in the Hydraulic Bench Press and press the oval swage sleeve to ~4000PSI
    3. Swage the fitting progressively until it achieves a diameter of 18.0mm (+/- 0.4mm)
