A Wooden Spool or Bobbin or Reel is used to wrap wire or chain onto so that it is easier to manage. Consequently, they are made from various materials depending on their size and capacity. A Wooden Spool purchased separately is a means of storing a small amount of wire or chain in a more manageable form. The core of the spool is thick and dense cardboard. The wooden discs of the spool are are attached with studs and nuts.
Usage: These Spools or Reels are manufactured with ends that are both rigid and thin. Therefore, this allows it to be aligned and either used on a roller assembly or suspended on an ‘axle’ (e.g. a broomstick for the small reels and a piece of 50mm galvanised pipe for the larger reels).
