Product Description

0.6mm Clear Coated 1×7 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope is primarily used in off shore fishing, hanging/display, shop fitting, industrial design and control cables as well as tagging (tie wires). This 0.6mm Clear Coated 1×7 G316 Stainless Steel Wire Rope (Marine Grade) has virtually no stretch coefficient and mid range flexibility. The flexibility of the wire means it handles easily. The coating keeps is secure. As a result, it best Manually Swaged with Copper Ferrules. Both Professionals and DIY guys choose this wire for projects. Usage of the wire suits fittings for 0.8mm. Tensile Strength (MBS) = ~xx.xkg

Usage: This is a flexible wire making it easy to work with and bend with virtually no stretch coefficient. We recommend this wire with with Thimble and Ferrule fittings. Additional uses include: Picture Rail, Shop Fitting, Presentation structuring, Light Rigging, Tagging and Security Wire.

Length of Wire: Use combinations of the offered lengths to get the desired total length. For example – choose a quantity of “8” of the 10M length to select a single length of 80 Metres. We cut and ship all Wire Rope orders as a single length. As a result, each wire order is packed as a coil or a reel depending on length and all are factory wrapped and sealed. A requirement of less than 100M on a reel needs a special order (please phone first).

Quality: All Low Cost Wire products meet our strict ISO Quality Standards. Likewise, our Stainless Steel Wire is AISI Mill Certified at manufacture.  Our wire rope delivers the optimal balance between high tensile strength, fatigue resistance, abrasion resistance, and structural stability. Finally, our process provides a special treatment for a bright and smooth surface on the wire and cable. As a result, this delivers a truly top-shelf, long lasting product that will look new for ages…

Usage Tips

    • First of all, 0.6mm Coated Stainless Steel Wire Rope must be fastened or swaged manually.
    • Cut the wire using Parrot Beak cutters (collapsing trapezoidal design) rather than shears or a grinder.
    • Form Terminal Loops with Mechanical fastening or manual swaging. In addition, terminal loops must use stainless steel thimbles (eyelets) to retain the strength of the wire by distributing the load along the entire length of wire in the terminal loop (available here). Recommended for all structures.
    • As well, Wire Rope Grips can mechanically fasten the wire in a terminal loop. Low Cost Wire does not recommend this approach because of the difficulty of fastening. In addition, strip off the coating prior to using a mechanical fastener.
    • Manual swaging is done using Ferrules (or crimps or hand swages) rather than Wire Rope Grips. Use Nickel Coated Copper instead of Aluminum because matching alloys is important. As a result, catastrophic swaging failure will not occur. Aluminium swages WILL cause a dissimilar alloys reaction and as a result corrode the Stainless Steel wire. Low Cost Wire strongly recommends an All-in-1 swaging tool. Recommended for all structures. The coating MUST be stripped off prior to using a ferrule.

Installation Considerations

  • Matching alloys is important and avoiding cross contamination is very important. Standard fittings for G316 Stainless Steel Wire are made from either Nickel Coated Copper or Stainless Steel. Contact with Aluminium or Carbon Steel is NOT recommended as it will cause a corrosive (galvanic) reaction.
  • It is recommended that similar alloy fasteners are used so that a dis similar (corrosive) alloy reaction is avoided. Generally G304 Stainless Steel screws are used in timber (counter sunk screws in soft woods and pan head screws in hard woods). Generally, G304 Stainless Steel Rivets are used to attach Eye Strap Saddle fittings to metal surfaces (aluminium, mild steel, and stainless steel).
  • It may be necessary to (electrically) isolate and insulate fittings from any non stainless steel substrate material - again to avoid a galvanic (dissimilar alloys) reaction. This can be done using an insulation device such as nylon washers or grommets
  • Lengths of wire less than 100M are cut and labelled as a coil. Lengths of 150M and above are (generally) delivered on a reel however, small lengths can be put on a drum for a small additional cost (please refer to our Reeling Service
