Wire Rope Thimble 3.0mm reinforce and structure the end loop of a stainless steel wire (or rope) run. The structured loop is secured with a swaged ferrule. This distributes the force of the bearing point is evenly along the length of the thimble. Distributed force minimizes wear, stretch, on the wire cable. A Thimble works with hydraulically and mechanically pressed ferrules. Our wire rope thimbles are AISI 316 grade stainless steel.

Usage: The Wire Rope Thimble 3.0mm G316 Stainless Steel does not terminate wire. Firstly, insert the end of a length of wire through one side of a swage. Secondly, loop the wire around the thimble. Finally, thread the end of the wire back through the swage. Best practice for maximum strength requires wire extended past the swage. As a result, the length of the extended wire must be 3 times the diameter of the wire. Consequently, the swage and thimble secure with a manual or hydraulic crimping tool. The ‘loop’ fastens to the anchor point already secured to the posts or uprights that form the frame or area that will contain the wire. A larger thimble can be used with a small diameter wire to afford protection or form a larger loop. And this works if there is adequate clearance.
